Today is a somber day... My mom's birthday is today, and would have been 65. In June this year, she was taken from me way too soon. We had our differences, but in the end, we both knew that we loved each other, and our relationship become very special and the bond I have with her still lives on in everything I do.
I don't know how I did it, but I sang her entire funeral. That day, I felt her with me, by my side and she got me through it. I was driving today, and a song came on my playlist that I sang at her funeral, and it was one of her favorites. We both share a love for Josh Groan and his music. As this song was playing, I looked up and there where dozens of geese going into formations to fly south. Anyone who knows me, knows that I believe when you see a feather, an angel is near. I see feathers so often now, even when I'm not looking, they appear.
I came home tonight and I felt as though the best way to celebrate her birthday was to sing for her. I did that, and I recorded 2 songs that mean a lot to me. To Where You Are, a cover by Josh Groban, and On Eagles Wings; a traditional hymn that I sang at her funeral as well.
Mom, you said I could do anything I put my mind to.... This is for you. I love you to the moon and back.... xoxo
